i-Learner Prize Presentation May 2006

Visitors to our Top Readers' Chart will often marvel at the scores achieved by the top readers. These readers show persistence as well as a genuine love and mastery of the English language. They have been rewarded both with their results, and with the privilege of being present at the i-Learner Prize Presentation Ceremonies.

In the past, many excellent readers who were progressing extremely well were not invited to the ceremonies due to the quotas set for students from each school. Thus, we decided not to set any quotas for the May 2006 ceremonies, instead holding two sessions so that due recognition could be given to all students achieving outstanding results.

The Cheung On Tak Lecture Theatre (TU201) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University witnessed the honouring of students with outstanding results in the Reading, Grammar, and English Classics i-Learners. Each prize winner received an award certificate, and had the opportunity to win gifts by playing tongue twisters and quizzes during the presentation ceremony.

Mr Jacob Notinga, education consultant for i-Learner, demonstrated how learning English can be made enjoyable with activities like listening to music. Mr Alan Sze, our advisor who lectures at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, shared several caveats in reading in an age of information explosion.

The following is the list of students who received awards for achieving outstanding results in the Reading i-Learner programme in the second school term (1st January - 25th April 2006).
